P5 (IPI) INSTITUTE FOR EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH, SERBIA
Institute for Educational Research (IPI) is one of the premier research institutions in Serbia. Founded in 1959 it has a long-time experience with conducting educational research and preparing reports of various kinds. The Institute has conducted a number of national research projects, mainly funded by the Serbian Government. It has been involved in international research projects as well, such as Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2003, 2007 and 2011) for which it operates as a national research center for Serbia. Institute staff has a long and rich experience in organization of in-service training of educational staff, too. In recent years the institute has organized several hundreds of training sessions for more than 10.000 teachers. Moreover, IPI offers support to evidence-based policy making; organizes scientific meetings; publishes monographs, research papers, reviews, books, handbooks, policy briefs, etc.
Institute for Educational Research will conduct the activities in regard to assessment of needs of current principals and other education leaders by undertaking a study using quantitative (questionnaires) and qualitative (focus groups) means. It will also undertake a review of current research on educational leadership and on the most effective educational leadership preparation programs, with recommendations for the development of the master program. It will also help transfer the accumulated knowledge in the project into the user-friendly, practical Handbook on best practices in educational leadership. IPI will considerably participate in all other WPs as well, such as identification of problems in educational leadership, and especially concerning the courses offered as professional development, as IPI will teach some of them in cooperation with other partners. It will be also a reliable and an active participant in the training and a constructive partner at the Consortium meetings.
